TRIVIA---Sean Connery is best known for playing James Bond, but he also co-starred in the World War II epic, A BRIDGE TOO FAR, which told the story of Operation Market Garden, the Allied invasion of Holland which was supposed to bring an early end to the war in Europe (A BRIDGE TOO FAR had one of the best all-star casts ever assembled for a movie which included Connery, Robert Redford, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, James Caan, Gene Hackman, Laurence Olivier, Maximilian Schell, Liv Ullman, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Ryan O'Neal, Dirk Bogarde and Hardy Kruger).
Another of Connery's most memorable roles is Prof. Henry Jones in INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.
Today is the 74th anniversary of Operation Market Garden, so here are four actors who appeared in A BRIDGE TOO FAR and INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

Sean Connery played Maj. Gen. Roy Urquhart in A BRIDGE TOO FAR and Prof. Henry Jones in INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

Was he not at the epic Dogs of War also? That film was a must of modern " small wars "....
Cheers

Think Dogs of War was Chris Walken and Ton Berenger. -- Al

Hi Al ,
Sorry I did mix things up...yes that is true....
As a matter of fact, I meant The Wild Gease - that would also be wrong.....for in it was Richard Burton and Roger Moore ( a 007 but not Sean....{sm4}{sm4}{sm4} ).

The Wild Geese is a good show, with an outstanding cast. Unfortunately, of the major actors in the movie, only Hardy Kruger still lives, but perhaps not surprising considering Wild Geese is 40 years old. Oddly enough, the technical adviser for Wild Geese was Mad Mike Hoare, the famous Congo mercenary, and he still lives at the ripe age of 99. -- Al

Fully agree, it was a hallmark for me too, as a modern/mercenary warfare and, yes I recall reading that Mad Mike was the technical adviser, guess that was the reason I was so true in all aspects......
I guess with these types of confirmations we give away how Jurassic we are.....{sm3}{sm3}{sm4}{sm4}
Cheers
