Randy, that shot is fantastic Nothing to do with your named choice of Colonels.

Hi Polarbear,
Great diorama!
What did you use for ground cover?

Keep up the great dioramas.

I look forward to them.

Cheers,
Benjamin

It was from a bag of "earth" I got at a model train shop many many years ago. I don't even know if the company is still around (AHM). Nowadays your best source for all kinds of ground cover would be Woodland Scenics available from most train and hobby shops. http://www.woodlandscenics.com/

Randy I also love that ground cover also, it looks great and looks realistic for those wooded areas where you wouldn,t see much in the way of grass but rather more of that pine needle leafy dirt type of ground cover.

Yet another great mini dio to a growing library!

Thanks Tim

That ground cover is great and I keep it in a plastic tub and recycle it since this particular form is no longer available.

The web? Hmmmm.....think I've heard of it. Small place on the computer which has a couple of misc articles etc on - is that the one? :p

Good morning Simon

I simply googled woods and forest images and this was one of them. The 1st backdrop I tried was an autumn maple forest that clashed with the figures--too orange--so I looked for more green:D

Tell you what Randy, you do have a knack of taking a fairly normal photo and turning it in to something spectacular!

Thank you Simon.
I think part of the trick is in the arranging and selection. I have been making scenes with soldiers since I was a kid in the 50s. From my childhood I wanted to be a scenic designer for the movies. I have no traditional art skills, however, so I became an art historian. As they say those who can't do, teach.:D The digital technolgy of computers and cameras and the freedom of retirement is allowing me to live out my original dream. In the 60s I was bowled over by the beauty of the films of David Lean: Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, and Ryan's Daughter which blew me away with their artistic framing and design.

Randy, another one to add to the list for praise. Have you thought about sending all your photo's to Peter for inclusion in the Gallery? That way we can keep track of your wonderful pics. Jeff

Thank you Jeff. That is a possibility now that they are starting to mount up.
