I saw this one for the first time on TCM recently. One of the overlooked classics. Directed by Elia Kazan, it is a biting almost mean spirited commentary on american culture including celebrity, advertising, politics, and show business. It was made in 1957, but the scenes involving the senator running for President are dead on for 2008.

Have to agree on this. Have seen it a few times. Who said Sheriff Taylor was a nice guy? -- lancer
