First off a few things about me. I have not owned a TV for 2 years I get all my programming via torrents from all over the world. The best things on TV IMO are from AU and England...sorry forgot to mention NZ (they are used to it by now).

Anyway two of the best Documentaries in the last couple of years...both from AU

Go Back to where you came from

Go Back To Where You Came from is a world first, three day television event following six ordinary Australians who agree to challenge their preconceived notions about refugees and asylum seekers by embarking on a confronting 25 day journey. Tracing in reverse the journeys that refugees have taken to reach Australia, they travel to some of the most dangerous and desperate corners of the world, with no idea what's in store for them along the way. Missed an episode of Go Back To Where You Came From? Watch catch-up on SBS: http://www.sbs.com.au/shows/goback or to pre-order the DVD go to: http://www.sbs.com.au/shop/

I tried finding a description of this show but failed. Basically it follows a group of students trying to pull them selves out of the brink of failure and the teachers that are trying to help them do just that.

Anyway I would suggest checking them out if you can. If you know how to use torrents the site for AU TV is http://www.downundertv.net/

I agree... particularly with the "Go back to where you came from" doco. The whole asylum seeker / refugee issue has been twisted into something very un-Australian by certain politicians to suit their electoral needs. More people should see it and reflect on what they would do if similar circumstances were facing them and their families.

cheers
