Gents,

I reached out to Jazz this past Mothers day and hit him up online about a purchase I made overseas. I was cold, nervous and had the sweats as I clicked to win this bid and was over confident that I was purchasing a looooooooooooooong retired set of Warbirds. But, I bought them and figured if they were not Original K&C early 1990's Warbirds...well I would have a couple of cool looking planes sitting in my office.

So here is the story:

Saw a couple of planes being offered overseas...they looked like the real thing...I went to Sagers Soldiers and downloaded the old brochures...put the pics side by side to compare the two...took a smoke break...looked at them again and found more details in my favor I overlooked...watched more the Spurs game...checked again and felt pretty sure that they were a match...but I am not a Warbird expert. Went to bed, won them on Mothers day...sent out a email with pics to Jazz and he replied fast and furious.

Celebrated Muddas day downtown at a brunch...came home and Jazz contacted me and reached out to Louie "The Godfather" Baldato for some confirmation...in the mean time Jazz confirmed one of the birds as he has a lot of them...I cried on Jazz's shoulder about the other plane and tried to make my case that they were authentic...Jazz told me to wait and keep calm...he emailed back and told me that Louis weighed in and confirmed the plane.

GULP...I was sooooo happy and a huge thanks to Bill Sagers for having the old brochures on line (I study them all the time), Jazz for even responding to my emergency on Mothers Day and The Godfather Louie for waving "the black hand" and confirming the piece. This type of support allows me to keep my new found pledge that I recite on ebay to potential buyers as one of my selling points. I hope to get Andy to sign them at the Show!!!

Thank you gents and I owe you one,

John From Texas

You're a regular crackup, John. Two minor corrections, however. Louis' last name is Badolato and, less important, there is no "i" in "Jazzeum" but since it's a made up name anyway, no biggie :wink2:

Also, a lot is a relative term. I think I have about 16 of the old style and new style (excluding polystone ones). However, I think Louis has in the neighborhood of 100 or so. Now, that's a lot.

The Spitfire you have was the first one I purchased. Through the good graces of Andy at the 2005 Chicago Show, he introduced Louis and me to a collector from Texas who was selling a Heinkel, a Spit and a Me 109, plus a ground crew. Louis purchased the Heinkel and I purchased the other items. The Spit, which Andy confirmed was different than the other ones, is still one of my favorites.

If I have time, I will try to post photos of them tonight.

Senor Brad,

My humblest apologies on the misspellings of y'alls names...twenty lashes. At least I did not spell your name "Jizzi-yum" and Louis, "Bald dito". That would have been scandalous.

Can't wait to see the pics,

John from Texas

John,

It was my pleasure. The old warbirds are one of my passions. It's always fun to see someone else take the plunge! And you didn't even have to kiss my ring.{sm4}

Here are some photos of my first two Warbirds.
