Hi all,

let me tell you about "Christmas in March" :wink2:

On March 1st, our fellow forum member Jeff (aujj65) posted pictures of a group of the British 4th Battalion of Foot (JJ Jacobite Rebellion Series), that he wanted to use for a 7 Years War battlefield, happening on the continent. The first picture shows Jeff's photo that he posted among others.
I do have several sets of the Highlanders from the Jacobite Rebellion series and my plans were, once I had a large enough group, to display them on a nice wooden base with an engraved brass plate in front, saying "Last Charge Of The Highland Clans".

However, when seeing Jeff's pictures of these fine troops, I had to reply how great they look and that I was seriously tempted to hit the buttons for a purchase, but would hold back and think twice, since that was my New Year's resolution, no spontaneous purchases and no more selling of purchased items.
About two weeks later ........, I received a package ........, actually two packages .......... and Jeff had sent me his entire group of the 4th Battalion, 6 Line Infantry, 4 Grenadiers and the King's Colors Standard, ........ as a gift .........., so my Highlanders do have some troops to charge against.

Jeff (aujj65), a big THANK YOU for the lot. It is most appreciated and I hope I will display them well and to your liking, once my "Jacobite Rebellion" troops are all on the field.

Below you see pictures of the figures, which I have altered to a glossy finish. Inspired by fellow forum member "Dragoon" I also did repaint the gaiters to black, since it seemed to be more appropriate for battle.
At a later point, if you are interested, please look in the "matte to glossy" thread in the General Toy Soldier Discussion section for pictures of both sides, British and Scottish.

Konrad

P.S. There was even one more figure in Jeff's packages, a mounted one, but that will be revealed at a later point in the "matte to glossy" thread.

Wow. That is a magnificent gift. And, as usual, the gloss finish looks outstanding. The Highland charge will look complete with the English opposition. -- Al

Konrad, what a really great finish you have given to these and I must say JJD figures do lend themselves to a coat of gloss varnish. Glad you have put them to good use.

Cheers. :smile2:
