Two recent additions to the 60th Foot compare their former lives as civilians.

I wanted to show that the TGM and JJD figures work very well together

Hi FIW collectors,
Well........they say the camera doesn't lie - however, as I've already stated, if you put any JJD FIW standing firing figure next to the TG standing firing figure , there is a very big difference . I can't show an example as I sent the TG figures back. I am not saying this to be bloody minded, but to save anyone else being as disappointed as I was (I mean size - not quality)

The two figures in the photo look the same way to the naked eye. I had them on my mantlepiece to look at for a week prior to shooting the photo. These are the only examples i have of either TGM or JJD 60th Foot so the figures you had may have been different.

Hi Johnboy,

There's not a doubt in mind that your comments are well-intentioned.:) However, there's an internal contradiction in all these discussions as regards scale. Time and time again, a minority of collectors raise the issue, "hey, look, one of those figures is a different scale than the other." Good enough. We all get it. However, in many, many instances, those same collectors will point out that variability in the human form is such that some figure-castings are justifiably wider and/or taller than others. What's the difference? Well, in my limited experience, it's most likely attributable to what manufacturer it might be that a collector chooses to patronize. If the set under scrutiny was spawned by brand-x, it's "give 'em hell." On the other hand, if the maker is their personal favorite, then it's "see no evil." In other words, some collectors are perfectly willing to overlook disparities in scale so long as the differences occur within the ranges offered by their preferred brand. Again, I'm positive that you mean well. However, I do also. Because of that, I felt compelled to comment. Were these attitudes, as publicly expressed, no so patently obvious, I'd have kept these concerns to myself.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts,:)

Hi Moe,
Thankyou for your thoughtful response. On another thread I mentioned that in my large Napoleonic collection, I have examples of figures from most of the well known 58 - 60 mm manufacturers. Nearly all of which, (to a certain degree) work OK together within the boundaries of reasonable credibility. The two manufacturers of FIW that we have been discussing IMHO do not do this (unless you have a large dio where they can be separated (perspective)) . The two standing firing figures previously mentioned do not belong together in any shape or form (TG -54mm JJD 60mm) Both figures are of the high quality we have come to expect from the makers concerned . My own FIW collection is based around JJD and I hoped to add another perspective using TG figures without realising that they were actually 54mm (my fault) my motivation for this note is to use my own experience to perhaps stop anyone else making the same (costly) mistake.
Regards, Johnboy.
