A chestnut gelding called songster was among the horses obtained by the Leicestershire Yeomanry in 1914. He went with the regime nt to France and served with them throughout the war. After the war he was purchased by his regular rider and continued to serve with the regiment. He died in 1940 and was buried with the medals awarded him by the regiment, Mons Star, Victory Medal, General Service Medal and two Territorial Long Service Medals. Trooper

Whilst not strictly speaking, a Warhorse - I know Trooper likes Drum Horses - so thought you might like to see Sergeant K Tollady on Alamein - who is the first female Drum Horse Rider in the British Army.

Trooper-

those are some wonderful pics sir. I shared them with my daughter- interesting how they look like they could have been plucked from the movie.

One pretty cool thing I got to experience with my Dad- he was on the General's staff at Ft Carson Colorado in the mid 1990's. He used to make occasional trips out to take a look at the horses the unit had- for ceremony, pomp and circumstance. Pretty little ranch. Anyway, we went out there and there were troopers out there minding the animals. They all had little ranks assigned to them- it was a really neat experience.

Cheers
C
