OK, it's a fun movie for those of us who grew up in the Cold War, but why on earth are they remaking "Red Dawn"? The US entertainment industry seems berift of any new ideas or creativity. Next fall we are getting a remake of the "Hawaii Five-Oh" TV series. Why don't they at least go for some classics like "Twelve O'Clock High"? I guess our entertainers are too busy being involved in politics to actually be creative.

They are remaking Red Dawn? That is not even very old. Why bother? Now I might be interested to see Hawaii 5-Oh, but how are they going to replace "Book 'em, Dan-o, murder one."? This is going to be interesting. Have to agree that the powers that be in La-la land seem to have drained the well of creativity. All one has to do is look at the current movie releases (the A-Team, really?) to realize originality is on life support. -- Al

It is always interesting to see them remake movies that weren't very good to begin with. Red Dawn was an amusing popcorn diversion but the premise was silly and hardly rates a better treatment, especially with the military decline of the SU. Of course the question may be whether it is better or worse than robots with gonads.

According to a report in the Times Friday morning, Dan Bradley's redo of John Milius' 1984 original is in the can but has been delayed indefinitely from its scheduled Nov. 24 release due to MGM's uncertain future.
