I have a request or a suggestion for the the people at Britains when it comes to releasing and marketing their items. I would like to see them issue more single pieces rather than what they do now, which is issue items in sets, usually in sets of 3. I find that I am drawn to a particular piece within a set, but have to buy the whole set just to get the one piece. And if I want multiples of that one piece, I would have to buy the 3 piece set many times over and get stuck with numerous pieces I don't want at a great cost. By offering the soldiers individually, I believe it would give the collector a lot more flexibility and, I would guess, increased sales for the Britians company. There are not many vendors (if any at all) willing to break up the sets and sell them individually. That is why I am respectfully asking Britains to limit their issuance of 3 piece sets and begin offering single pieces for sale. How do all the other Britains collectors feel?

I guess it depends on the set. For WW or ACW items, I see the advantage of single figures, especially if you want to build up a diorama. If it is bandsmen or marching figures at the slope, that you want to build up into a parade, for example, I also also see your point. However, if it is a themed set or telling a story, such as the VC series, I think they go well in sets.

Could figures be packaged both ways or is that too expensive?

You know for the matte figures I think I agree. I don't do dioramas. I set them up in the curio and it looks better if you have 6 marching figures rather than sets of 3 guys doing different things. Just sell them individually in all different poses. Especially for Napoleonic and Rev War. The traditional gloss figures should be sold in sets of 6.

Basically I agree with you. However Britains vignettes are usually pretty nice.
But it would be nice if they offered more stand alones. This is probably one of the reasons K&C does so well. I can understand dealers not wanting to break up sets. There is a good chance of getting stuck with a bunch of figures from sets that no one wants. To reiterate, (Britains are you listening?) More stand alones please:D

We are aware that some of the poses are useful 'en mass'. This is true of 18th and early 19th century tactics and it has been addressed to a degee. Please note that in the second half of 2006 catalog 17802,17840, 17841, 17843, 17842 and 17783, in the Yorktown range are offered as single units. These are basic infantry figures including standing firing 71st Highland and 17th Rgt of foot figures to man the redoubt.
This idea has been carried to the newest catalog for a few additioal figures and we will exspand that concept in some ways, in future catalogs. There will always be sets of figures, some of which tell a story, and some of which you will probably only want one of each figure, or pose, in the set.
There are also 3 figure sets that make sense to do, like 17663, 17743 and 17806 Yankee firing sets. You would need several of each set to create a defending line on infantry, and the variations in clothing and headgear is consistant with period images of almost any Union regular or volunteer unit by mid to late war.
Hope this helps, Ken Osen

I feel the same way about this subject and have suggested the same thing on past britain threads. I hate getting stuck with the bum poses to get doubles or triples of figures that I do like. Thats the one thing that I love about the K&C napoleonic line, being all done in singal figures you can pick what YOU like and can add extra usefull poses without the funky ones you don,t like running up the price.

Hello,
I feel the same way as many other collectors, single figures are great! That say, the vignettes are also great. So please produce more vignettes and offer more single figures.

It would also be nice to see some single Indians offerred to compliement the previous Iroquois set.
