I just finished reading this book tonight and I found it a very good read. It is a short book. Only 225 pages. It only took three nights to read. I found it a great introduction to this episode in history.

Are there any other books on the Alamo that provide more detail on the lives of the men that fought in the battle?

Walter Lord wrote excellent books. I have his Midway, Titanic and a few others. Short books but well written.

I have a book I use for reference. The book has enormous detail for a paperback including biographies of the combatants.Black and white illustrations of the Alamo and maps and diagrams.

Alamo Sourcebook 1836 by Tim and Terry Todish with illustrations by Ted Spring. This book was copyrighted in 1998.

I think it cost about $20.00 if still in print. Tim Todish also wrote some French/Indian war books and a Roger Ranger book that is very informative. He is a reenactor and historian. I am going next weekend to a Living History Show and he use to sell his books there. That is where I got my autograph copy. I did not go last year but he might be in attendance. He lives in Michigan. The book is 81/2x11" with 215 pages of information including short biographies of those killed at the Alamo, survivors and noncombatants. There is a wealth of information in this book. John

Today, Sunday was the Michigan Living History Show. Tim Toddish and his brother were there with the books including Alamo book. I could have got you a signed copy. I did buy their new book on Pontiac's Rebellion. Robert Griffing was there also, he signed his art book for me. Interesting day and the show was the biggest ever. Michtoy was there selling figures.
