I was in Rhode Island over the past weekend and picked up the children's book below on the African American Rhode Island Light Infantry who fought heroically at the Battle of Yorktown in October of 1781.

The book illustrates the various uniforms worn by the company, including the one worn at Yorktown. There is also an illustration showing the 18th C watercolor that has provided historians with visual information on their uniforms. Below you will also see an illustration by Malcolm McGregor from John Mollo's Uniforms of the American Revolution that is based upon this watercolor.

Here is a photograph of one of the W. Britain releases of the Rhode Island Light Infantry for their Yorktown series. Finding that children's book on my weekend trip has given me a new perspective on this figure from my collection.

Thanks for posting this information Randy. Your posts are always insightful and informative.

Konrad (kogu) has pointed out that Beau Geste also makes a set of these Rhode Island figures.
