I attended (along with my wife and several other collectors) an open day at RP World Models back on the 10/05/2015.
They are an :salute:: English :salute:: Toy soldier manufacturer and based in an old Victorian Industrial building in Nottingham.

We were warmly greeted by Bob Prati and his staff and given a tour of the premises. Very interesting day, enjoyed it immensely.

I thought I would finally make use of the photo's I took - hope some of you may find them interesting :)

Thank you Old Bill, I'll bet that was a fun visit.

Looks like they keep it very clean in there.

Looks like a great place to visit. Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

Yes, the britfarmer and Ivanhoe - Fun and educational thanks! Nice to see the "nuts and bolts" of commercial TS making.

Also very good to see an old Victorian commercial premises still being used as it was meant to be. Took me back
a bit to the 70' and 80's when I worked in an engineering factory.

The firm are mainly "Glossy" producers (not my cup of tea really) and also the custodians of a huge amount of original W Britain moulds.
I believe Bob worked for W Britain until they closed down the UK operations. I bought some W Britain mounted Boer castings that caught my eye -
with a view to painting up matte eventually.

All in all a great day out!

Thanks from me too Roy - for a look backstage. I can confirm Ron and his crew are great to deal with when buying castings - and will bend over backwards to help. And compared to many other manufacturers "Painted" prices nowadays - are extremely reasonable too jb

That's intriguing! I wonder if that includes the Charles Biggs molds. If he has the Imperial German field artillery in review order, it would be great to know that they could be produced again someday,

Prost!

When we visit UK and stay with relations in Nottingham, I always make sue that I plan a visit to RP and see what's going on in the workshop.

I love being able to rummage through the trays of castings and search for some 'hidden gems' that are 'crying out' for their paint job, and seeing many of the half painted Britains figures from 20 years ago just laying around.

Some of my 2014 pics ...

I can thoroughly recommend taking time to stop there, and thanks Roy for posting your images from your visit.

Hi Roy and John,
Thanks for sharing these great pictures!
Not only we have a chance to see how Steadfast soldier sets are manufactured, but also that they are done with a lot of individual attention by the RP Staff !
To see that such an operation is something very special, and I wish to some day be able to visit them!! Which is an issue for I would go wild with so many fantastic pieces of artillery/wagons/caissons and what else at ones reach and the temptation to draw your creditcard out...^&grin^&grin^&grin...The wife would kill me!{sm3}{sm3}
Not sure which pics made me more happy Roy´s showing the extensive rows of artillery pieces or John´s close up of a fantastic tray full of British Artillery garissons dressed up on Middle East uniform and foreign service pith helmets....{sm3}{sm3}
Cheers
Luiz
