Does anyone know of any feature films or tv series being made in this 150th Anniversary year?.

On Memorial Day here in the States, they're showing on the History Channel a new film about Gettysburg made by the director of Titanic; name escapes me.

Not this year, but next year, Speilberg's Lincoln movie will be coming out. It will be based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin book.

Just looked this up Brad and it sounds good.

Am at this moment watching Gods and Generals for the first time. Despite being slightly spoiled by over loud background music and some really hackneyed dialogue especially from the Irish and southern civilian characters, I'm enjoying it.The Battle scenes are very well done indeed with a scale that gets across the action very well.

I thought Gods and Generals wasn't terribly good, certainly not as compelling as Gettysburg.

Have you seen Glory, about Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Massachusetts. One of the better Civil War movies ever made.

No not nearly as good.Yes I have seen Glory and very good it is too. Another fave, although an older film, is Red Badge of Courage.

Don't forget "The Horse Soldiers", based on Grierson's raid. Trooper

A classic with The Duke and William Holden. Hard to beat. The Newton Station sequences are my favorite. -- Al

Constance Towers was pretty hot in her time.

You can buy mp3s of the soundtrack pieces on Amazon for 99 cents a song.

One of my all time favorites Al, loved the Newton Station scene; they captured the uniform of the Western Theater Confederates very well.

"That holy Joe ain't no kid".................

Glory is in my top five favorite movies of all time.

Loved Gettysburg too, have the longer version with the added scenes.

Gods and Generals was painful, but Fredericksburg was very, very well done, bought it just for that alone.......................

I am looking forward to the History Channel version of Gettysburg. Ridley Scott is the director or producer.

I also enjoyed the HC story of a survivor of Custer's Last Stand. Through the years some people claim to have survived Custer's battle but this fellow seems to have a story that has some facts to it.

Fortunate man, George. The extended version of G-burg was limited and went in large to re-enactors. I would like to see the extended G&G for the missing Sharpsburg scenes. Apparently the scenes were shot but left out of the theater release. Would be interesting to see. -- Al
