I typically love really good hard core science fiction films. But after watching this film I have one major question - Why was this film made??
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2935510/?ref_=tt_urv

I was willing to endure the pro-longed build up to wait for an exciting punchline, which I thought might come in the style of something akin to a Twilight Zone punchline where you're waiting for the big reveal. But after the nonsense distractions, Donald Sutherland is in the film for about 10 minutes, and nothing comes of his character, the film leads up to NO punchline. The ending is so flat, it's like wait a minute, there's got to be more right? Nope, forget it. If you have not seen this film please do NOT waste your time. This could have been an excellent film, but it was just a huge waste. If you have seen this film, were you as disappointed as me?
Maybe I should have just read the horrible and comical reviews from IMDB of everyone else that loath this film, would have save myself a lot time and it would have been much more entertaining.

I watched it a few weeks ago...it was okay...not something I would watch twice...I was waiting to see if the entire cast of "Space Cowboys" was gonna do cameos...but I'm guessing James Garner is gone...

Yes, Maverick road off into the sunset. Him and his brother Bart cash in their last chips but we'll be remembered.

What I got out of it was the amount of resources and energy expended in querying for intelligent life in the universe outside of our solar system. And that the realization that there is no vast civilizations promised through centuries of science fiction and human wonder. Thus the realization that we are indeed alone in the vastness of the universe. Which would make the human species either a results of intelligent designed single evolution / creation or just a fluke of randomness of the rarity of primeval slime evolving into the dystopian future depicted in the movie which was rather depressing hence Tommie's current metal condition. Either way that would clear the human race of any further concerns for planetary environmental review and then we could all proceed to log the universe by starting on Earth First!

Cheers, Ya-All!

Saw it in theaters...the popcorn was good, but the flick was meh. I think that was one of those star power movies that was only based on star power. To this day I don't remember what it was all about. Lots of hype that fell flat.
