This new release from the WB Redcoats series (44010) represents a Highlander from the 72nd Regiment (later the Seaforths) in the uniform worn in India and the North-West Frontier: khaki covered tropical service helmet, khaki tunic, and plaid trews. He is shown in Afghanistan during the 2nd Afghan War (1878-1880). Representing 1879 in this scene, he is contemporary with the soldiers fighting the Anglo-Zulu War in South Africa.

great photo Randy & great figure to!!! i picked up 4 of these on saturday & couldn't be more pleased with them :D

I pre-ordered it too..beautiful figure, i hope they'll add the officer too, in this campaign the 72nd's officers had puttees of Royal Stewart Tartan and were particular, also i hope they'll product some more soldiers from the NW front (1842 or 1879).

A piper would be good too. I want to set up a marching group.

Here is a Bill Hocker set of the 72nd with officer and piper

Yes a piper could be great, i don't know if they used colors so hazarding a colour party could be historically inaccurate, but well it could be in parade not in action obviously so no problem.I'd like to see some kilted infantry and even some 60th foot in green too.And returning to NW Frontier some officer in informal dress ,maybe the ubiquitous "Poshteen" too!
