Here is my Hiriart African Collection to date, with more in the pipeline (Thanks to Mike Tarantino's great service). Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Egypt and the Sudan are represented. In the mid center are 2 Britains sets i have had since I was a boy--The Kings African Rifles and the French Foreign Legion. My love of the subject began then with Ramar of the Jungle, Jungle Jim and Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion.

Note bene: I have been suffering since November from a strained rotator cuff in my right shoulder and painful spasms in my right quadricep, the latter very likely due to a pinched nerve. So my photography and posts have been cut short for now. Prolonged sitting sets off the spasms. I am awaiting an MRI of my lower back to determine if it is a pinched femoral nerve. Working at the computer is currently a luxury. Hope to see you down the road again if they can fix my problem.

Randy

Great collection of glossy figures Randy. Thanks for photos and I hope your medical problem will be repaired ok. John

Thought you were missing in action and now I can see why Randy. Feel for you mate, the back is everything and so many people take it for granted when everything is ok. It can really bring you down when it want's to. I really hope you can get it fixed and back to normal, especially so you can once again enjoy this hobby. As usual your collection is wonderful, certainly must bring some colour to your life. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Cheers, Robin.

Randy,

What a great looking Hiriart in Africa display! I was admiring how good they look in glossy and how different they would be in matte. I can hardly wait for your new sets, which should be here in March, to be added to the display. Let's see: sets 1290 Ascari Sotto il Tricolore, 1896; ES-02 Tiradores de Ifni Sahara; SPECIAL WWI Force Publique, Belgian Congo, 1914; SPECIAL WWI Portuguese Colonial Infantry, Mozambique; and an officer on foot with a kneeling camel from set 1153 FFL Meharistes.

As I have said to you before privately, I join with the others in hoping your medical issues are resolved soon and you can get back in action. Bob Walker wishes you well, too.

Best regards,

Mike

Hi Randy,

Thank you for sharing your impressive gloss collection nicely displayed in the cabinet. I find it therapeutic in a way to just look at colourful and shiny gloss toy soldier figures. Hopefully, your collection can distract your attention from some of the pain and discomfort that you are now experiencing. As others have said, I hope you get your rotator cuff and quadriceps issues sorted out as soon as possible.

Best Wishes, Raymond.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments about my collection and well wishes. I am looking forward eventually to doing some photo dios but with the leg cramps striking with no warning, handling my collection or going to my photo setup in the basement to take those kinds of photos is a little like UXB work. ^&grin The rotator cuff is doing better. I just hope they can find what nerve is causing my leg pain. My guess is a pinched femoral nerve since that runs through the quad. My PT guy says I may have a lumbar bulge or herniated disc at the base of my spine.

I will keep you posted

Randy

Just a tip Randy - if you see a UXB guy running - try to keep up!:D

Get better soon - jb

Hi There,
