I recently decided to aquire a K&C AK093 Sd.Kfz 251 and prior to purchase I inquired about the dimensions from the dealer. I was very suprised at the large size of the vehicle; Length 8.3", Width 3.1" and Height 3.0"; which is 1/27. 1/30 should be Length 7.6" Width 2.7' and Height 2.3" . Can anyone verify the the K&C Sd. Kfz 251 is oversize. I expect this size armor from TCS but not K&C.

I am aware that the recent M4A3E8s are 1/28, but I was unaware the size increases had extended to the German armor.

Hi Katana,

I have both the DAK 251 and the grey. I think the size is perfect; in fact, it goes very well with other DAK vehicles (e.g. the German Morris and Panzer IV). If anything, the Armored Car (AK094) seems small to me (in comparison with the other vehicles), but that's just my opinion. I've placed a small sheet of Styrofoam in the back and enjoy standing two figures in various scenes. I don't think it seems large at all.

A few pictures for size comparison:

Thank you for the information Rob. Your photos are great as usual. The figures look good with the vehicle. The fact that the figures and vehicle are size compatable would verify the larger size; which is good IMO.

I think they are a hybrid if I remember correctly. I think they are very long, but then the height and width are closer to 1/30. I know there are measurements floating around, but it is definitely more appropriate for TCS since scale compatibility is something you care about.

You are correct. The measured dimensions of K&C AK093 are 8.3" long, 3.1" wide and 3.0" high. A 1/30 Sd Kfz 251 should be 7.6" long, 2.7" wide and 2.3" high. The actual size is 228" long, 82" wide and 69" high.

K&C has gone TCS!

Sort of related to size, which AK sitting figures will fit in the AK093. I have the AK098 figures on order , which are descibed as Demag Passengers but advatised pictured in AK093. I have not noticed any figures specific for AK093.

Your correct mate

Hi David,
I own quite a bit of DAK figures and vehicles, and always like when questions like yours are asked. One of the nice aspects of collecting K&C is that the majority of figures and vehicles stay pretty compatible. To answer your question, I think it's whatever figures you prefer to add to your Hanomag.

I own the Demag Passengers (AK093) and have probably used them in most of my DAK vehicles as well as Desert Village scenes. You can't go wrong with placing them in your Hanomag or a Demag.

Here they are in my Demag:

And in the Hanomag:

At the same time, I also like the more recent Wounded Soldiers (AK112) which are slightly smaller, working well in the Demag:

Then again, you might try your own favorite DAK figures for a more creative idea:

Lots of opportunities and the variations are endless (only limited by your own collection).

Please post a picture or two of your Hanomag with figures. I look forward to seeing it!

Darn, now you've got me looking at Afrikakorps again! Still have some British 8th and a few AK pieces I never picked up.

You can easily fit 6 and even 7 figures into the K&C vehicles if you use a few tank crew figures!

Cheers,

Stefan
