I've posted some pictures of a diorama of frontier Alaska using some Marx tin litho buildings and some painted plastic figures.

I love your delightful "Alaska with Painted Figures" display. It is so cool and refreshing to view a peaceful town/civilian scene with a beautiful scenic backdrop.

Thanks, Raymond :)

Look like you took those lost Penguins out. :wink2: Great sky backdrop. How do kids "play" Alaska? Go the trading post? Sled dog race? Eskimo attack?

The pictures are just great and words can not tell You how great the diorama is. Graet to see You used old time items. Thanks:):):)

Maybe the rivet counters should be called "Penguin" counters .:tongue:
let's keep it fun!

wow! Never seen such a dio {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}} And you feel the nature and the clean air!{sm3}

Thanks for the positive feedback. I've had this set up in the works for several years and have just kept putting it off.

Scott...some of the sets Marx released don't make alot of sense. Someone in the Development Department thought that an Alaska playset would make sense amid all the hoopla of Alaska becoming a state. They released an "IGY" playset for the International Geological Year. It must have been a big deal then...but it sure seems weird now.
What is the play value of these sets? But I'm having fun with it now.

I've posted a couple more pictures.

Oh the Orca attack is beautifully done! I like how you used that Italian "Maid Marion" figure as a saloon girl in the other photos.

Great stuff. The "Shamu" attack is so well done....poor walrus. The wildlife inclusion is so cool.

Thanks, Raymond :)

My seven year old son Alec saw your Alaska diorama and asked me if I could make him one. He thought the seals, walrus and orca made the whole scene much more interesting than my military dioramas. I guess I'll have to start decorating my scenes with wildlife . . . :smile2:

Great photos and great theme. Nice to see something different. Thanks for posting.

This is something definitely out of the ordinary. And very well done too!
