Figuring how to convert this airplane to a gear up position? My first thought would be to dremel the wheels and struts off, imbed a peg into the top of the strut so that they could be inserted when I wanted a gear down position. Can not get any more specific till I get mine and second guess everything I just told you..:DMichael

Gear up position? Then what. Make a stand? Hang it from a string attached to what on the plane? Or just leave it belly flopped in a field with a bent prop? :D

So I can play air ace with it, Mate..Didn't you ever dogfight with a plane in each hand and making all kinds of rat-t-t-tat sounds as you moved around a room? Just had one of those moments yesterday..:DMichael

Perhaps you can demonstate for us at Chicago and put on an aerial exhibition with sound effects. I'm sure someone will video it and post it. :eek::D

I would leave the K&C Hurricane the way it is if the gear is fixed down. Then buy a Corgi Hurricane as the wheels move. Just a thought.

I salute your intentions, most aircraft, especially fighters, were made to be viewed airborne. That is one reason I prefer my Corgi releases to any of these. If you are serious about a conversion, the 1/72 examples by Corgi and others abound but most use a seperate pair of gear for the extended / retracted options respectively.;) The reason is simply that the folding struts extended to support and lock the gear down are completely in the way for a retracted position.

Good point. The 1/32 corgi wheels do go into an up position.

Has anyone thought of displaying a Corgi aircraft suspended above a K&c airfield display?

I don't have a plane as yet.......jury still out as to when, if ever I will try and get one.......Very expensive for me right now......Oh well.........Haft the fun it the chase......:D

That is how most of the sub 1/32 scale diecast aircraft are made. Note the two pairs of gear provided for this 1/72 Corgi Hurricane.

The good thing about WWI planes is the gear stay down...you can hold them better for intrapersonal dogfighting:cool: Anyone who hasn't done it is a liar or an investment collector!

Hey Mike what if you pour gas on it and set it on fire? some one did that to a half track.:D:D:D Am I helping now?????;);)
 
Grew up flying and fighting 1/48 scale Monogram WW2 aircraft, many of which came with retracting gear. Had a blast with Hellcats, Hurricanes, Zeros, Bf 109's. Also dogfought with many a 1/48 scale Aurora WW1 aircraft. Still do as a matter of fact.:D -- lancer
