Those of us of a certain age, that grew up addicted to movie and TV westerns, will mourn the passing of Andrew V. McLaglen on Aug. 30 at the age of 94. He was director of many fine western films and was especially well known for his direction of the 'Gunsmoke" and 'Have Gun, Will Travel' TV westerns. As well as directing John Wayne in several western films he also directed 'The Devils Brigade' with William Holden. He had Hollywood in his blood, being the son of Victor McLaglen who won the Oscar for 'The Informer' and was famous for his connections with John Ford and John Wayne. One of Andrew's last major products was his work on the mini-series 'The Blue and the Gray'. Another Hollywood legend gone. RIP. -- Al
