Hi all, this question may be well served to Andy and Gordon, I have seen some great collections and dioramas on the treefrog site since i joined up late last year, such as Louis's and capitalron's and others, but what about the owners themselves??Andy,Gordon, even Andy's first wife Laura, I wonder what kind of collection do they have?? do they have one set of every item made or any dioramas around the homestead?? and what's thiere most favorite piece...do Andy and Gordon fight over who has the coolest collection??? please fill us in,inquiring minds want to know...Sammy

I strongly suspect that they don't have any of toy soldiers in their homes... All is kept and displayed in the K&C museum in 3rd Lockard Road, Wan Chai.

Probably a few in Andy's house but mainly in the museum.

If you go to Toy Soldier TV he says in there that he has no most favorite. He likes all the series.

Gordon and I had a conversation about why Andy didn't keep at least one of each set K&C ever made. Apparently in the beginning, Andy did intend to keep a proof of each set produced, but over the years clients would call and say that one figure in a set got damaged or lost, and K&C would send a replacement from the proof set, and sets would end up getting given out or sold off to new collectors looking for sets retired before they began collecting. It was only late in the 1990's when K&C started to truly archive everything it was making. However, K&C has a wonderful archive of retired sets, prototypes and one of a kind pieces in its offices, as Steven Chong has documented.

As Oldcelt pointed out, Andy's personal collecting taste runs to the nostalgic, and he loves the same Timpo G.I.'s he collected as a child. In fact, at the first new York Symposium, held in the then incredible showroom of Classic Toys in Greenwich Village, NYC (sadly since closed like many brick and morter stores but happily reopened, in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania), Andy proudly showed off an incredible large set of Timpo G.I.'s, still in the original box, that he had purchased the week before at the Westcoaster.

I have seen Andy with armloads of goodies at the shows. I seem to remember vehicles predominating.

I have seen Andy buy a lot of 21st Century Aircraft, and some of those cool welded metal military vehicles and aircraft by Metalshed, some Russian figures from that gentleman Dimitri (I forget the name of he does business under), but most of what I have seen is nostalgic toys, as well as a good bit of research material about planes, tanks, military vehicles, uniforms, etc.

If I remember correctly, Andy made specific mention of master sculptor Roy Selwyn Smith - the person who sculpted Britains Knights of Agincourt and the Timpo GI's which are very popular and exquisite.

That boxed set he displayed at the old shop was incredible. My dad really wanted that set!
