I understand that Ken Olsen frequents this forum, and if W Britains is looking for ideas on continuing this outstanding series, this could be a chance to raise a few suggestions. I'd like to see...

Marching/standing at attention 24th Foot officers and enlisted.

More Natal Native Horse/Mounted Police/Native Contingent.

More personality figures for the various company commanders and other key players at Isandlwana. A mounted COL Durnford would be nice as well.

Something such as a Save the Colours vignette with COL Pulleine handing off the Queen's Colours to LT Melvill.

I'm really impressed by the hand-to-hand combat series. More of these would be welcome as well.

All of your ideas are good, I would like them, to add to my collection. Robin.

You have an incredibly impressive collection... really captures the intensity of those final moments as the British firing lines collapsed. I can't say I recognize any of the figures in the bottom photo. Who is the manufacturer?

Thanks, I have the Rorke's Drift permanently set up with the Britain's hospital and storehouse, excellent models. I have a couple of hundred Britain's figures and some TG. The mounted figures in the last scene are from Heritage toy soldiers, they fit nicely with the rest. Hope you find what you are looking for, there is a fair bit of product still available. I have just received the Hale rocket set and will display soon. Robin.

Another great display Robin and nudging me to get out my Zulu war figures for a scene or two sometime !

Steve

I will help you out there Steve and show a couple of my old photos. Since they were taken i have increased the numbers and put the diorama into a display cabinet. With the larger area i have changed the layout slightly. No new photos of this but i will get around to it. It still is not comparable to Robin's excellent scenes though. Regards Greg.

Wow great depiction Greg of desperate action with the defenders being absolutely swamped by Zulus. Like the buildings well done on those too.

Steve

Vignettes yes , battle sets , 2 piece sets on single base,

no boring standing ones, only battle poses,

Marching/standing at attention 24th Foot officers and enlisted.

More Natal Native Horse/Mounted Police/Native Contingent.

The fall catalog will include a nice selection of new 24th Foot combat poses that were designed to replace old figures that we have retired, or are retiring. There are also some new combat poses and an action packed hand-to-hand set.
The Winter catalog will have new Zulu Warriors and personalities so we are working hard to upgrade detail and diversity in poses for the range.

I hope this helps a bit.

Ken,

Thanks for the response, looking forward to seeing these new releases! I'm not sure if you are able to disclose this but are there any plans to rerelease a Saving the Colours figure? Unfortunately I missed the set the first time around.

Mike

I am with Dave a Zulu village would be nice ! and some no combative poses to go with please :salute:::salute::

Hale rocket fans, see my thread under diorama's---- 'time on my hands at last'. Great set. Robin.

I am just happy that hale rocket battery is finally available. Like the idea of new named personalities as I think the endless hand to hand has been overdone at this point. Not sure if Lord Chelmsford command wagon is historically accurate from Zulu dawn but would be interesting to add to ones collection..

Agree we need more great stuff, not and 24th or zulu running but 2 piece diorama sets , hand to hand on single base, perhaps a 24th foot picking up wounded on single base

They have done some of these already

One of the things that we forget about if we are a serious collector, is the short shelf life many products have. This is especially true for the things that some companies make very limited runs of, perhaps a hundred pieces or less. Even though W. Britain runs have always been much higher, things do get retired or may have been limited edition sets of 300-450 pieces. If you are new to a collection or brand you might not be aware of previous releases and that is why we often return to subjects.
The catch 22 here is that veteran collectors can be disappointed in seeing the same subject covered, but there might be a demand that needs to be addressed to keep the newer collector satisfied. The flip side is that we also may sacrifice more obscure facets of a subject to keep everyone happy.
I think there can be a balance, but it also requires some patience and thought and we spend a tremendous amount of time deciding what is to be developed and in what order. With that said, any reasonable suggestion is always noted by us so please keep the conversation going!

Thanks for your support.
All the best,
Ken

Is this the Bromhead you're working on Ken ?
Looks good !
Steve

Well done on the new Bromhead figure. I will defiantly be adding one to my collection.
Picking up on Ken's point, even if you have the old figure, the poses and improvements lend themselves to new displays and dioramas.
With regard to other AZW figures I would like, a Walter Dunne figure from the Commissariat and Transport Department. Also Corporal Attwood of the Army Service Corps. These would add a bit of uniform variation as would some Royal Artillery figures suitable for the Drift Scene.

There are still plenty of opportunities to be creative with the AZW. It would be nice to have some more mounted troops, such as the mounted infantry, Dragoon Guards and 17th Lancers.

I could also see the 3/60 Rifles being a popular addition and, other than a couple of TG figures, not covered. As they also were involved in the Boar War in similar attire they could fit into a number of scenarios.

I look forward to the future offerings, (and club and event figures yet to be released!)
