Here is another small home cast set I found. I think it represents US Marines from around the 1880's, but would like a second opinion. Thanks in advance for the help.

I think they're supposed to US Army artillery in dress uniforms of the 1880's.

I think you are correct about US Army Artillery in dress uniforms, but I think they are wearing the Model 1902 Artillery Uniform with model 1895 Helmets. Here is a photo of a Model 1902 Artillery Uniform in my collection:

Yes, the giveaway clue for me was the sponge in the had of one of the gunners.
