Antony Beevor on War Movies (1 Viewer)

It’s a tough balance for a film maker between accuracy and entertainment. We all have to remember they in a business where the goal is profit, not merely education.
I’m always torn between the two - but will generally side on being entertained. My thought is for accuracy, watch a true documentary - that being said, it’s irresponsible for them to change history and falsify things.

Beevor makes interesting points and I happen to agree regarding SPR. Thought the opening sequence on Omaha brilliant, the rest of the film, not so much. Now I must dig up a copy of 317th Platoon as I can't find anything but snippets on YouTube. -- Al

Had never heard of 317 Platoon, so had a look at a clip on youtube and looks like quite a good film. Just need to locate it with English subtitles or dubbing.

I agree with you Al. Never heard of the 317th Platoon movie so I need to see if I too can find a copy.

I see it’s available for purchase on Amazon but not for streaming.
