In the late 70,s until 1990 I was a huge card collecter. Had a jump on the competion as I still had my cards from when I was a kid, those being 1952 thru 1965,
Sold all but the early 50,s which I still have to fund my K&C habit.
Here,s my question. I just discovered the Topps Heritage sets, how difficult are those to collect?
There are not an abundance on ebay, and would you know of a good dealer. I really am only interested in St Louis Cardinals.

I collected in the 70's and 80's. Like most things associated with baseball, however, that hobby went to hell and became a money hungry pursuit/bust. I still have fond memories though of opening those card packages with the rock hard bubble gum.

Gary,

I used to collect and used to collect just Mets but even that got too expensive, what with all the various companies and sets, etc.

Anyway, if you can pick up SCD (Sports Collectors Digest), you might be able to get someone to help out.

I use to collect baseball cards too. Started when my older brother got me into it in the early 80's. Then a friend of mine gave me a shoe box full of 70's cards. I collected with my brother until about 1993. Then I got tired of the single card prices and how difficult it was to complete a set. I still have most of my cards. Sold a few but still have over 85-90 percent. My brother is still in it but just barely. He still attends card shows and gets autographs, etc. I much prefer the toy soldiers.

Hi Guys,

I collect them. I like the Heritage sets but I have been focusing on only one team and thus only go for the team sets so what I can tell you is they are on Ebay but I dont usually see the entire series sets for Heritage. Keep looking if thats what you like. What cards did you keep from the 50's.

All the best

Dave

I got about 50,000 sitting in my closet from the 80's and 90's, some football and basketball too. Have some older cards from the 60's, the only survivors from my childhood.

My father collected baseball cards and he had many extremely rare cards from the fifties and sixtys but one day in the late sixties when he was a teenager he burned them all because he thought he would never need them. He had boxes and boxes of them. Needless to say he regrets this.

The older cards are so expensive because when we were kids (at least when I was) our parents tossed them (thinking they were worthless junk), we put them on our bikes or we flipped them against the side of the candy store.
