I was in Gettysburg a couple weekends ago, and I was in a shop called Tarbox toy soldiers (or something similar) and the owner mentioned a situation where two customers in the past were having a "live auction" on a set of King and Country 101st Screaming Eagles D122 which had three figs, but he told them they weren't for sale as they were out of production. Then he said they are gone now, but he has replacements, King and Country Paratroops DD056 with two figs. Sorry to ramble on with the story of which I came to find out that there were two different sets of 101st Airborne, but does anybody know why there are two different sets? Is there some special story behind this, or are they just new releases of different poses of paratroopers? Thanks guys.

Blake,

Set DD 056 had three 101st para figs descending on chutes, whilst the later updated sets are two,two figure sets, one of 82nd (DD123)and one 101ST(DD122) Airborne. There are also several sets of both units fighting on the ground.

I'm not sure exactly what your concern is, but you listed two different set numbers, and K&C has released several different sets of paratroopers. Some are 82nd, some are 101st. They have run the gamut from two-figure sets to four-figure sets.

Thanks for your response guys. You sorta answered my question with your questions. I seen that there was a previous release of 3 101st figures, and later 2 101st figures. I'm assuming the older set retired, and the newer set of 2 figs was just to add the original 3 figs. I was just curious about this continuation, I must have misunderstood the guy at the shop, to me it sounded like the original 3 figs were discontinued early, and the newer 2 figs were replacements for them, somehow making up for the older ones. I guess I was being a big dummy and not realizing that the new set was just a continuation of the old.

The older set of descending Paras was indeed retired some time ago,as were the other sets that featured Airborne troops in action on the ground. So yes the new two man sets are a revisiting of this theme and if memory serves are now the only current US Airborne troops on sale, the others can still be found here and there.

Cheers

Thanks Rob :) Maybe I'll post in the classifieds to see if anyone has the older 3 :D

I guess the soldiers could get a workout instead on sitting in the same place all the time, the lazy bums ;):D:D:D
I have a weight bench (hardly ever use) in the furnace room in the basement, now there's a room I don't think my wife would ever want to use, I could display my troops (small collection) there. That's the secret, displays your soldiers in the most awful room in the house, then the wife will never want it from you :p

I had my office/hobbyroom in the attic and one day when I was on a businesstrip my dear wife had converted this holy space into a master bedroom! Never underestimate the inventiveness of a woman!
