So I guess the Austin Cowboys are huge then. Nice to see Ron state his new figures are Accurate/Imex/Marx size.
Frank
I don't think they are huge - unless you are comparing them to the regular 50mm Marx figures, against them, EVERYTHING looks huge.
You have to remember that these were the MASTERS and that they have to be made oversize to accomodate shrinkage in the mold once the plastic cools. The weapons will need to be enlarged before these go to the molding stage, as they simply won't inject that thin.
The figures looked fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on them - so much so, that if he had had his metal copies there, I may well have crossed to "The Dark Side" and bought a set making them only the second set that I have ever had in metal (god forbid!).
And for the guy that didn't notice them, we did take new product with us: Replicants Scottish Highlanders, as well as character figures of Rob Roy and Monmouth, none of which had been to Chicago before. I
should have had bagged figure sets available form last years' Saloon Playset but someone - o.k. me - forgot to pick them up after spending time bagging them immediately before we left to catch out flight, at 4.30a.m.!
As for prices being expensive? We never found that, even with the Pound being worthless against the Dollar, there were loads of bargains to be had as proven by the 300+ items that we bought back with us.
I have sets of all of the new Russian figures and we are selling them at around the $35.00 mark, too. We are told that they are a limited run of just 1,000 hence the high cost - with plastic, the less you make, then higher the cost.
Very, very few factories will even switch on their machines for such low volumes as this. So my advice would be to get them now, as once they are gone....
