Yo Troopers, got a small problem. Want to bid on an item on ebay UK, but the seller put postage to UK only, so it wont let me bid. The seller wants me to bid but cannot change the listing or doesn't know how to. So I said I would see if I could get a UK bidder to put the bid in for me, the seller is happy with this. So if any of you guys can put a bid in can you PM me ASAP the item goes off tomorrow. I will pay for the item just let me know your ebay handle and I can tell the seller the bid is for me, thats all there is to do. Many thanks in advance for any help.
Bernard.

Bernard, why don't you just bid in your own name and have it shipped to a UK mate? That way you can pay and control your bidding and the seller has no issue since it is being shipped to a UK address. I have done that myself several times.

Better still, since he wants you to bid, when you win, he can just invoice you the proper amount to Ireland. If that doesn't work, you always have Bill's suggestion. Since Jeff has painted several figures for you, maybe he could do it for you.

Bernard,

Sent you a pm a while back. Are you sorted OK with this?

Cheers
Simon

Yo Spit it wont let me bid, because I am registered on Ireland ebay, so it says ask the seller but for some reason she is having problems changing the postage option:confused: Anyway Simon has volunteered good man he is:D.

Well OK so how about me mate?;):D Anyway, very pleased it worked out for you.

FWIW, that is odd that you couldn't even bid since I have never had that issue on UK Ebay when the shipping is restricted. Another alternative that I have seen is that if you sign in on your own ebay and search the item number it will show up and allow you to bid from there. I guess there are some funny listing controls that I don't know about.

Yo Spit, your a Trooper already being the horse expert. Have been meaning to ask you, did you ever see Lonesome Dove, if so was the horse Tommy Lee Jones rode one of those special gait US horses, why I ask he just looks so cool when riding it.
Bernard.

Ah good to know mate. Yes I did enjoy Lonesome Dove although it has been a while now so I don't remember any of the specific horses. I do know Tommy Lee owns a few ranches, breeds and trains horses and sponsors and plays polo at the highest level in this country. He refused to allow anyone do any of his riding for him in Lonesome Dove and I have seen him play polo. He is a very good horseman but his wife is an even better one.;):D

Nice one Bernard, glad your bid was successful. I could always pay for it and then stick it on with a BIN of double the sale value :p;)

Bill,
I've had the same problem as Bernard with a couple of US auctions. The seller has stated that they are prepared to ship worldwide in the text, but has got it set as a US only auction. Won't let me bid, as I'm registered outside of the US. Bummer.

Simon,

The next time that happens, please let me know. I will be glad to help out.

Much appreciated Gents. Be assured that the offer extends both ways.
Cheers
Simon

There is another way to get around this.

You can ask to be put on the the seller's Buyer Block Exemption List, if the seller allows you to bid on his/her item.

How to do this:

(1) Click on Account on the eBay Summary page

(2) Next Site Preferences

(3) Next Buyer Requirements

(4) Select Show and then Edit

(5) Click on Buyer Block Exemption List and then Add

All the seller has to do is add your eBay User ID to the list and you can bypass the restrictions on the seller's site.

This works only if the seller is a good communicator and is willing to customise his/her eBay Summary page.

Hope this may be of some help.

Raymond.
