Hi, I've just registered here, and it looks pretty cool! I decided around a month ago to start builing a scene of a battle (probably a made up battle), sort of like that warhammer stuff, but with this WWII stuff. Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to start, and if theres any starter packs out there to get me going? Baring in mind I'm 14 and won't be able to afford alot of things, and I live in England, so it's no use saying a good shop that's in America. If anyone else lives in England please post here and let me know, because I really want to get involved in this stuff, cheers, brayshaw_17.

Welcome aboard Brayshaw. I would suggest checking in with the Nevilles of King & Country, U.K., who might be able to help you, or at very least point you in the right direction. Their website address is: http://www.kingandcountry.co.uk/

Thanks, I've visited the sight and it's good, if anyone knows of any others please let me know. Anyway, does anyone else build model war scenes? Please say anyone if you do because I will need help! :D

Welcome to the forum brayshaw_17,

There are quite a few UK members on the forum. With regards to your enquiry re shops, there are a couple of good mail order toy soldier specialists. These deal mainly in plastics rather than painted metal, but as you mentioned that your funds are limited, these may be more suited to your pocket, well worth a look in any event.

www.harfields.com

Both carry new plastic figures of all eras.

With regards to your model battle scene, what did you have in mind?

I know that there is a wealth of talent on this forum (just look at some of the pictures in the "Bored Tonight" thread in dioramas). If you put a post up with what your thinking of, I'm sure that there'll be a lot of valuable advice that can be given, including tips and hints for non expensive diorama materials.

Cheers, great help and I'll post my ideas on the thread you mentioned so people can tell me what they think and of they have any suggestions. Cheers, the website are a good help, perhaps plastic would be better for my pocket. :D

Here's anopther idea and really don't know the shipping cost involved or the logistics in making this happened but Nick at TSSD (Toy Soldiers of San Diego) has an outstanding selection of painted and unpainted plastic (FOV, Conte, 21st Century, etc.)!

That's how I re-entered back into this hobby 20 months ago. Nick and Deanna or good people and very helpful.
