I do not want to start a war but am making a statement....what if a manufacturer or even a well healed investor bought up all of these things at any price...to drive up the value of their product/investment in the future....and to ease the /coiniciding with- the price increase that is coming....
An interesting and complicated business model I am sure but cheaper than advertising....and we arre talking about 1000+% markups on on some if this stuff from "fair market value".
wouldn't be unheard of- the US is printing money against gold that doesn't exist.....

I was just about to start a thread. I collect the K & C glossy and was hoping to pick up one of the items. Yeah, right.
There was a Seaforth Khaki Color Guard set that went four about $1,600. Then a Seaforth and two mules, around $600. There was a mounted rider Khaki, around $350 or so. That shouldn't cost more than $150. Then there were several Seaforths, with some you don't see every day. Based on the auctions I had just seen I assumed $1,200 or so. When I left, it was around $2,200! That is the amount (and then some) you should pay for a big presentation box.
I just don't get it. Unless these are investors the prices are just outlandish, completely nuts.
I tell you them speculators are somethingover at Old Toy Soldier Auctions.....I have some suscipicions.....?

Boxes I hear are usually another storyIt is very true that it's very hard to find glossies. However, with the help of friends (for me, people like Louis and Lawrence) and eBay and just plain being lucky (as at shows), you can build up a decent collection. Now, if you want to do it fast, these live auctions might be a way to go even though this one didn't have that much.
I was being sarcastic...It's not like I was in the closet about it...I said long ago I will pay highway robbery prices for glossy's in the box...some have rewarded themselves nicely from me and had their ears open...others I assume are likely not interested in selling. But when and if your ever ready to part with your boxed glossy's for equivilant prices as todays auctions feel free to send me a pm with what you have...my goal hopefully as time moves forward is to let everyone on this forum and elsewhere know that selling to me can equal a killing in profits for you.If they're speculators, I can see no immediate return at these prices unless they have buyers already or are willing to sit on them for awhile.

Well I was hoping to purchase the Wm. Hocker "Queens own set" for about $2000...sadly it sold for $3000...sure was a nice set! Nevertheless I got the DD02 "Postcard" figure and that made me happy!Better deals today.
