Given the historical backdrop of Veteran's Day, or Armistice Day, or Remembrance Day, I'd like to recommend the miniseries "Fall of Eagles". It chronicles the last of the Hohenzollerns, Hapburgs and Romanovs, from 1871 until 1918, and is another series full of great performances by well-known character actors.
The cast includes Patrick Stewart as Lenin (only the second role I had seen him in, after Sejanus in "I, Claudius", long before ST:TNG); Barry Foster as the Kaiser (remember him from Hitchcock's "Frenzy"?): Gemma "Duchess of Duke Street" Jones as Empress Victoria, the Kaiser's mother; and Curt Jürgens as Bismarck.
I first saw it on PBS back in the late 70s or early 80s, then only once again in the mid-90s. It finally appeared on DVD, and I recommend it highly. Very good docudrama.
Prost!
