Only just been released but has anybody seen this ?

Argo is a 2012 American thriller film directed by Ben Affleck based loosely on a true story. The film is based on Tony Mendez's account of the rescue of six U.S. diplomats - with help from Canada - from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. The film stars Affleck, Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin and John Goodman, and was released in North America on October 12, 2012. The film was co-produced by George Clooney & Grant Heslov, who both collaborated on the critically acclaimed Good Night, and Good Luck.

Haven't had a chance to see it yet, but it has gotten great reviews across the board. Sounds like a winner. -- Al

Al,

Seems reviews have been good as Wiki entry says :

Argo was acclaimed by critics.[7] Rotten Tomatoes reported that 94% of critics gave the film positive reviews based on 140 reviews, with an average score of 8.5 out of 10. Its consensus reads: "Tense, exciting and often darkly comic, Argo recreates a historical event with vivid attention to detail and finely wrought characters."[8] At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the film has received an average score of 86, considered to be "universal acclaim", based on 43 reviews.[

I wont give away the plot to Taken 2 but appears already planning Taken 3 {sm4}

Just saw Lawless which I enjoyed but the wife hated as too much violence for her. Might have to see a romcom next to make up for it{sm4} although Killing them Softly and Savages on my to watch list (I like Salma Heyek and wife likes Benecio Del Toro so might be OK on that one {sm4}

Regards

I understand about the wife's taste question. My wife andI have the same compromise system in place. She likes comedy/romance, I like the usual action stuff, so we alternate. I thought I had read or heard that Liam Neeson wanted nothing to do with a Taken 3 movie. I guess money will talk in that situation. Salma Heyek in 'Desperado' sure brightens my day.:wink2: -- Al

We saw Argo on Friday and it's well worth seeing. The performances are outstanding and it's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I had forgotten about the episode involving Canada that is the topic of the movie and it had you sitting on the edge of your seat.

Ben Affleck does a heck of a job as director and actor (never trying to dominate).
