Does anyone know anything about a company named Artefacts Collectables?
They are (were?) apparently based in Australia in 1990.
They made an excellent range of 54 mm white metal, diorama type figure kits for the Little Big Horn.
Beautiful figures.
I Googled the company's name, but can only find painted examples. Link:

Are they still available and do they have a website?

Also there was another English company that made really mice LBH white metal kits, back in the mid '80's or so. I cannot recall the name, but I thought that it might be Rosewood (not ROSE) or Rosewell or something similar. I remember seeing a diorama of some Knights or Men At Arms, storming a huge tower, using figures made by the same company, at a show somewhere. Hackensack, probably. It was spectacular.

Any help?

Yes, I can remember an article in Toy Soldier and Model Figure Magazine way back with pictures of the figures.

I think I once saw the figures, sold as castings, in a games shop years ago here in Australia, and thought they were very detailed.

I will check out some old catalogues and resources and if I find anything, I'll post that for you, but don't hold your breath, it could take some time .....

Hi NEVINSRIP

To the best of my knowledge, Alan Black, who was "Artefacts" is alive and well and living in Melbourne, Australia. However, as has happened so many times in the past, he is no longer interested in 54mm figures. Where the moulds are, I know not. I will put the word out with the Melbourne collectors. I would suggest that you don't hold your breath!

The other maker you were searching for is "Rosedale". Their "Custer's Last Stand" was originally made for Jock Coutts of "Under Two Flags" in London (a long time ago, could 40 years ago be right?)

The late Keith Denniston of Rosedale had them in his catalogue up until the time he passed away. His son ran the business briefly and then sold everything off. Father Greg (Fleurbaix Models of Adelaide Australia) bought them. He then died, also. His son ran (runs?) the business.

Occasionally, John Eden of London ("roseminiatures" on eBay) has them up on eBay.

That's where I would start. Drop him an email or telephone him to find out.

Good Luck,

Oberstinhaber.

Found it ......

I hope that helps??

Actually, the reason I'm asking is that I just picked up a large collection of them and the Rosedale Custer line. I've got 18 of the Artefacts, still in the packages, with 1990 price stickers on them. The packs are see through so you can clearly see what you are getting.

I did find a listing on the "Glory Guys" website, but they don't sell them. It looks like they copied a few in resin, with license.

Along with the Aretfacts, there was a big box of bodies and parts that I recognized as the Rosedale figures. I have a small diorama that I did, using the Rosedale figures, so I was familiar with them. Looks like enough for 20-25 figures in there, with lots of parts. I do not see any bases however. I seem to recall them having a metal base. I didn't use the bases in my piece, so they probably got melted down for casting. Anyway these are gone, too.

I'm thinking of putting these up for sale. It's tough, because these are really beautiful sculpts. But, I know that I will never get to them. I have too much other stuff going on to start another project. I would rather see someone else who will use them, get them.
Little Big Horn must be one of the top diorama subjects of all time. So many makers of figures in all scales, plastic and metal.

Any interested parties can contact me here or at: nevinsrip@aol.com

I did take pix of the Artefacts collection. I'll post them here, so that people can at least see what they look like.
