I found this to be a really interesting article on Reidar Dittman, a former professor at St. Olaf College who was accused by the Nazis of organizing anti-Nazi demonstrations in Norway when he was a college student. He survived Buchenwald and immigrated to the United States.
Here is the link to the article:

I wanted to paste the part about his war experiences onto the forum but it is a PDF file so you will just have to link to the whole article. I thought it was interesting to read the perspective of a Norwegian immigrating to the US after the war. St. Olaf, as you can guess by the name is steeped in Norwegian tradition and my alma mater. (Um ya ya!)

My aunts went to St. Olaf-(Norweigan side). Did Betty White on Mary Tyler Moore show always say she went to St. Olaf? No Swedish Jokes - my wife is Swedish. Through the weeds ran one thousand Swedes chased by one Norweigian. Leadmen

No, on the show Golden Girls Betty White was always rambling on about her fictional hometown of St. Olaf. We Oles get that a lot, in fact so often that Betty White actually was invited to come to the campus and speak a few years ago. I wasn't there then but I did get to hear former President Jimmy Carter speak there once.
