Since I am going to be a Medical Service Corps officer, I collect Napoleonics, and the D. Larrey invented modern milititary medical care, I have been looking at different Napoleonic medical ranges.
I have come up with the following:

  • JJD's Ambulance (which will hopefully have accompanying pieces soon)
  • FL's Larrey scene
  • ATS's ambulance and surgery sets
  • Historex's extensive line of ambulances and medical personnel
  • Artig's line of ambulances and personnel

I already have JJD's ambulance, and I am planning on purchasing FL's scene. I don't have the talent or time to paint the Historex pieces, so I am wondering if anyone has the Artig pieces and can give me some more information on them or review them. The vehicles look really nice, and the prices are no longer far above the market standard. That said, I have never seen any of them in person.

Any help is appreciated,
Sandor

Congrats on your career path Sandor! I don't have medical Art-IG figurines but I have a lot of other NAP Art-IG's and they are excellent quality (details and paint work). I would put them close to FL on that front.

Thanks! That's good to hear -- I know some of the older Russian pieces no longer match the rising standard, so I am glad these are (almost) in line with FL. I used to look at Artig prices as insane, but they are almost cheaper on average than K&C now.

There is also the Britain's surgeon of the Coldstream Guards about to operate on a soldier wounded who was wounded defending Hougoumont.

Cheers,

Brendan

Keep a lookout this year, I think it will be coming after seeing, in this Forum, resin masters of them shown at Chicago !!!

I have a Wurst, a travelling wagon to carry the medical staff, from MHSP, a French maker, but it only come as castings.

I have always admired ATS. At some point, when I have a real job (only around six months until then -- so scary), I plan on buying a few of ATS's more unusual pieces (a boat and maybe some artillery). I may add a surgeon set to that, but I would like to see how his matt painting is before I get a set where the focus is on the figures

Do you have a link to MHSP? I said I don't have time for painting, but I can either make an exception or have someone here paint them. I like the Historex pieces, but I prefer metal. In fact, I bought an Historex French artillery pieces with a hour horse train. It was painted and mounted on a wooden stand. I tried to take it off the stand to mount everything on smaller bases (connected by turf covered wire). Half the parts broke (traces, shakos, plombs, legs, straps, equipment). Now I have to fix all that in addition to mounting it.

This is the link to MHSP http://www.mokarex.fr/index_mhsp_uk.html

Its not the maker's page, but seems to be a complete catalogue of the figures which have been rereleased by ATLAS as castings, but made in China.

Check out all of the different series of figures, and the coloured plates, there are many great poses.

As far as ArtIG goes, have you had a look at their website? It's here: http://www.artig.lv/en/control/main

One of their painters was a member here, a very nice and lovely lady, but I don't recall seeing any posts in a long time.

I'm not sure that they should be under Russian manufacturers, either, because they are located in Riga, Latvia. That might be a sore point.

Prost!
