Fish and Fubar, this is for you, Aspern/Essling in 20mm. The French and Austrians slug it out outside of the town......

Now were talkin George!!! How about a few more close up shots.

I like the buildings, to bad they don,t make these in 1/32 scale.

I'm just getting started, Borodino is next, followed by Lepzig, Eylau and the cherry on the Sundae, Waterloo............

excellent George, reminds me of the good ole days of wargaming. All 1/72 scale plastics or do you have some metals in there too?
I traded some stuf for a BUNCH of 28mm French so the insanity sinks deeper.

Great stuf George can't wait to see more.

Fub

The figures are all metal, the old Hinton Hunt range. I've also got loads of Qualitycast, Kennington, and Newline Designs metal as well..........

Jeff,
They are the old ones from the 1970's. The person I bought them off of lived in England for several years in the 1970's and bought them over there. He had plans to do huge French and Austrian 20mm armies, but by the time he moved on the idea, 15mm was all the rage for wargaming, so I bought them all off of him about 15 years ago...........

George.

They are very nice for their age. I see that you are planning to do other dio's. Are these with HH figures as well?

Jeff

Jeff,
My Napoleonic collection is made up mostly of Hinton Hunt figures, but I also have quite a few Kennington figures, Qualitycast (a shame they are out of business now), RSM Miniatures, Minifigs (they were advertised as 25mm in the 70's but are closer to 20mm) and some of the old Hap Jordan figures.

Iv'e got a French, Russian, Austrian, Prussian and British army, over 5,000 figures in total.............

Thanks KV, I'll take some close up shots asap..........

George

Those are wonderful - what a great diorama. We need to send these pictures to Andy and show him there are great battles other than Waterloo that can be done too. :)

Wonderful Collection George.

Ron

Thanks Ron...........Aspern/Essling would be a terrific battle to do a series of figures from.

The beauty of 20mm is twofold; you can do large layouts with hundreds of figures and secondly, since they are designed to be wargamed with, there are loads of choices, French, British, Russian, Austrian, Prussian, Bavarian, Swiss, etc, etc...........

Thanks Richard, nothing beats 20mm for large scale dioramas.......

Hey George! You have to check out this 1/72 scale napoleonic diorama!!!:cool:

This has to be the best one I have ever seen. The site is in german with very limited english translation but click on all the links and check out the photos.
These guys scratch built all the buildings copying old photos from the actual town and also scratch built a lot of the figures also. You have to check this one out!!!!
Heres the link.
http://www.croebern-1813.de/index2.html

Click on the gallery link and then just click on one of the photos, then use the next arrow option. There are a ton of pictures of the diorama posted with various veiws.

Then click on those other links and there are photos of them constucting the diorama, scratch building 1/72 figures!!!! and painting the figures. There was A LOT!!! of effort put into this diorama.

Hi Tim,

What a magnificent and beautiful undertaking! These fellows have built an amazing diorama. I can hardly imagine the time and skill it must have taken! Do you know for certain in what scale these figures and buildings are made?

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful website with us. To say it is amazing is an understatement!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

The sculpting is great! The detail and range is amazing! The buildings look very realistic!:D

Pat yes they are 1/72 scale!!! I can,t read german but if you click on this link ( http://www.croebern-1813.de/40235/home.html )and look at the german writting You,ll notice 1/72 mixed in a few times in the german writting. There is also a photo that has what looks like some unpainted plastic hatt figures in it and if you look at the pictures of the guys painting them up you can get a good refence of the size of these mini guys. They did a great job of painting all these figures also. I don,t know how these guys have the patience or eye site to paint these tiny guys????
