Back in the old days of Hollowcast Toys - many of the manufacturers sold Western Stagecoaches, and a whole variety of Cowboys and Native Americans in various poses for boys to use their imaginations - and to make up scenes similar to this below. My pic., is made up from a variety of old hollowcasts - and a few more modern solid figures - which include repaired and repainted figures and castings, and a few conversions too.

My (repaired/repainted) Stagecoach dates from the 1950's and was made by John Hill & Co (JoHillco), though there are many more still around from many other old Companies. Hollowcast figures figures are by Britains, Timpo, Crescent, JoHillco, and Segal - with some dating from the 1930's. More modern figures are from Dorset Soldiers and White Tower Miniatures - which are still producing such figures - both as painted - or castings.

Seek - and ye shall find. :D jb

Nice photo, takes me way back to where I started collecting. Black Hawk has produced a Stage 1/32 a couple of years ago, but although it looked great, for me the fact that it was postioned on a downward hill rather than a flat base, was a turn off. Getting back myself into Western, so enjoyed looking at your dio. Robin.

Thanks Robin - glad you like 'em.

My first find of this nature was of the two horses pulling the Stagecoach at a "Car Boot Sale". I initially didn't know what they were for - but for a £1, I thought they were interesting. I posted a "What are these for" question on the Forum - and found out they were for a JoHillco Stagecoach. With a bit of help from members - I was next introduced to the delights of e-bay! - and eventually re-united my two nags with the Coach.

One thing led to another.............and I am now the owner of a couple of hundred "Cowboys and Native American" figures - both old and new - but all down to that Stagecoach which kicked off this part of my collection - as well as my "restoration" habit, for many of the tremendously interesting old figures I now posess.

I have also seen the Blackhawk version - which is very nice - but was over ten times the price of my restoration project - and nowhere near half as much fun of bringing mine back to life.

Best - jb

Figarti, in conjunction with Jack Updyke, did one several years ago. It wouldn't surprise me to see First Legion do one someday.
