Hi All,

I bought this kit more than 30 years ago. A Historex resin kit. Some breakage in one of the parts which was replaced by Historex agents and the figures were not exactly inspiring. I gather it was based on a wonderful competition piece but when converted into a production kit, the parts were simplified or redone for ease of production.

Hence it fell off my radar but I found all the parts and am attempting to further work on it.
As can be seen, I had even created a wall for the background.

However, the figures look small when compared to the horses and the horse saddle flap is moulded wrapped to the thigh. The body proportions of the figures are miserable.

Long task in front of you
Please note :
all the bricks are the same size, long ones
animals, horses ... everything is in low relief ( very long process to replicate that ), bricks are glazed ( perhaps : painting it matt and flat with some carving around the figures to enhance the relief, then apply a satin varnish )

Hello Mirof,

Bless your eagle eyes! Yes the bricks are laid long, not like the part that I am working on. I wasn't specifically trying to represent the Ishtar gate, but trying to use a very Assyrian motif. This was also used later in one of my flats diorama.

I haven't yet worked out the diorama, hence the earlier abandonment of this project.

Here's the horse shabraque reworked. I used a bit of thick lead sheet as replacement. Separately, I am also enlarging the helmets of the three soldiers.

Here are the three figures, with reworked helmets and later, with the new faces being sculpted.

Inexorably moving these three figures to the next stage. They currently look like dwarfs from LOTR with 1/32 scale heads and 1/35 bodies. Notice that I am slowly bulking the torsos..
