Well - Boys this is it ! :D WAR MOVIE WEEKEND !!

Mrs. Phillips has gone to New York City with some girlfriends for a "girls shopping weekend" - I tremble at the cost & result

So its WAR MOVIES - all weekend long ! :D

I think I saw start with Saving Pvt. Ryan and then pop in with the Battle of Britain. Any ideas for tomorrows line up ??

Time to make the pop corn

I've been enjoying Band of Brothers, its great, a perfect way to spend the weekend!

My viewing got interupted by the Dish guys......seems we now are having a satellight dish installed........to many trees so the guy askes me can we put it up by the chimney? Being a man, I respond sure I guess so.......next thing I know the wife has a fit!

I'll be watching the rest of Band.........from my den.......or the garage!

Finished watching Saving Private Ryan - no matter how many times I watch it - it still chokes me up with the great men who fought for our Freedom.

For an encore, how about "Black Hawk Down', and then follow it up with Hamburger Hill, and Pork Chop Hill. It should ease the pain of the wife shopping somewhat.

How about going Old School with "To Hell and Back" about, and starring Audie Murphy?

I actually have all three in my video collection

I do Remember Somalia when I was working in Congress on the House Republican Leadership - we were all opposed to going in there - bad mission, sitting targets - one of Pres. George HW Bush bad mistakes.

I don't think I have ever seen that movie ? I know about it and about Murphy - that might have to be a Netflix order.

How many of you guys have Netflix ? Isn't it the best thing ever ! :D

Well, after a new K&C Napoleonic Release ;)

I thought that Somalia occured on Bill Clinton's watch?
Black hawk Down was in October of 1993 wasn't it?

Dick

Nevertheless, good movie -- even though you know exactly what's going to happen.

Clinton got this mess left for him by the previous administration - and this is coming from a Republican

JUST FINISHED

ZULU !

a little computer break - then Longest Day or A Bridge Too Far !! :D

The Clinton Administration did inherit the Somalia mission but it was a mission to safeguard food stores initially. Under Pres Clinton, the mission had changed to one of capturing the warlords and the military requested tanks and AC-130s but the sec of def.(name escapes me) nixed the idea because it would have been deemed too offensive. The situation depicted in Black Hawk Down is the responsiblity of Pres Clinton. It occurred 10 months into his presidency in October 1993.
