Atlanta Military Figure Society Show (1 Viewer)

I will be there, it is the only show we have here in Atlanta. It is an

interesting show with a Focus on Artistic Presentation of Figures and

Dioramas. They have lots of well done figures and present awards for the

best work. The trading area has changed quite a bit over the last 5 years.

At first only 1 or 2 dealers had any King & Country, there was a modest

amount of plastic, old dime store, dinky, and other related items. Biggest

attraction was the Russian Figures, quite a selection price was what ever

the dealer felt like asking, and since he was a talker you might have to wait

15 minutes to get his attention!

By last year King & Country was on at least 1/2 of the dealer tables, the

other mix was about the same......and the Russian dealer was still talking.

Its always fun......this year I might even listen to what the Russian dealer

is talking about!!

Well it looks like the Atlanta show is coming up on us pretty quickly. I will be getting things ready for the trip down this week. I should have the latest King & Country, Britain, NMA, Patriot, Corgi, Dragon, FOV and 21st Century. I will also have some of Nick's custom buildings on display.

If any of the forum members make it stop by and introduce yourself.

NJJA if you have the time stop by our tables.

Thanks
Ronnie

Hmmmmmm do you think it would be safe? Lately I'm not the most popular

guy around. Did I say lately.......how about permanently? And just when I

was considering running for office:D :D :D

Crossroads I am going to try and make the show. Are you going to be there Friday night? Could you slip one of the ERTYL 1/32 Grain carts that are on sale into your vehicle please. Strange request but I also collect farm toys. I'll also be looking for some of your Dragon 1/72 Armour. NJJA I'll try and meet you once again. We have had some bad luck trying in the past.

Fullyautomatic,

I plan on being there in time to setup Friday. I will bring the ERTL grain cart for you. We have always liked the Farm equipment as well but I don't think we will carry it much longer.

Look forward to seeing you at the show.

Thanks
Ronnie

John r u going Friday night?? I'm probably going to try for that night myself. Do most vendors show up Friday night or do more come on Saturday?

No I'm just going to stroll on in on Saturday, my lovely wife always joins me

so we arrive between 11 and 1 I shoot lots of photos, and enjoy the trading

area. I believe the plan is diner after then the evening preview of "Wild Hogs"

a new Harley Davidson Comedy.

I don't know how active the trading area is on Friday. The general accepted

theory is to always show up the first day early .........but I found it justs as

important to know what you are looking at as when to arrive.

Some of my best finds have been on the last day of various events.

I once found a $10K Dinky Airplane sitting in a shoe box on the last day of an

Antique Show......seller wanted $25.....I paid $22 and he lectured me about

arriving eariler in the future if I wanted to find anything good!!

Njja:) :) :)

I just wanted to give an update on the Atlanta show. I was able to meet a few forum members. It was a pleasure as always putting faces with names and meeting and talking with new collectors.

The new Afrika Korp releases were a big hit of course. I had a lot of comments from collectors on the Patriot figures, particulary the Napoleonics. Some had not heard of them but thought the workmanship was incredible. I had a small selection of the new Britians out as well. The Yorktown redoubt got a lot of attention.

The models and dioramas that were on display for the show were truly impressive. The one that stood out for me was one of the Hundley. The water was done in such a way as to show the complete sub, both above and below the waterline. I just checked and they have not added the photos for this years show to their website yet. I will try and keep check and add them later.

I spoke with one gentleman from the Atlanta area. He has a 6ft x 8ft diorama that he is still working on. I saw some pictures that he had on his cell phone and it was an impressive display. Most of his buildings are custom made. I tried to talk him into posting some pictures for us on the forum. Not sure if he will or not.

All in all it was a good show. I would highly reccomend the show for those who can make it next year.

Thanks
