I've been jumpin back and for for a while painting all kinds of stuf laying 1/2 done in their tubbs for years. A few of this, a little that, whatever looks fun.
Have about 100 Napoleonics done, 20 more WW2 Marines, 24 WW2 Soviets{ finally}24 dark ages figs, 2 arabs{ lost interest there rapidly} some Zulus, and these 60-65MM Atlantic greeks. Many are Trojans, that I swapped heads and shields from some inexpensive BMC figs I found. Nothing really fancy, just different.

Nice work Harold sounds like you have been busy painting (its never ending)
looking forward to seing more of your great dio's :D:cool:
Rob,

Atlantic made some realy nice figures. I had the Greeks and Trojans in 1/72 scale. Didn't they make some display sets, I seem to recall that there was a Colosseum, and maybe a display of the gates of Troy.

Prosit!
Bradley

Yes, Atlantic made all kinds of 1/72 playsets for WW2, Western and Ancients.
They had Egyptians, Pharohs Barge, Ships on the nile, The Sphinx, Coluseeum, Trojan Horse, and who knows what else.
A toy store at the mall had a whole wall of it. I never got any, I was 16 -18 and building 1/35 Tamiya kits.Passed on all the Timpo Kinights and Crusaders too.
Stupid kid.

Last nite I painted x3 CTS Carthaginians and 1 Roman Princep.Couldnt resist.
Came out splendid and having visions of a table filled with 54mm Punic war.
Still stupid.I have a huge collection of 25/8mm metals already done for that.
Hopeless.Hat Industry website has a slew of forthcoming 54mm Punic wars items including cavalry, Celtiberians,Numidians, Spanish ect ect.

Yes, Spartans too. Whose arm do we twist to get Italeri and Zveda to do Ancients in 1/32? The 1/72 are gorgeous .

Those are quite nice, are they 1/72 then?

No, The ones in the image I posted are 60/65mm BIG figures.
There is a vast array of Ancients available now in 1/72. Just lamenting the fact they are NOT available in 1/32.

Superior work Harold. Your mancave must be the stuff of legend.

When I was a kid, I had a red box of Egyptians and I think I had a box of the Atlantic Romans as well. They were the big 60mm figs. I saw the exact same unopened boxes at Gettysburg this past spring at the show. The guy wanted $70- $100 for them...........

I remember that they were better than Airfix' Romans, but I think that was partly a function of scale. The Airfix Romans were HO; since the Atlantic figures were a little bigger, I think the detail was easier to see and so, impressed me more.

Prost!

Hi Harold,
beside the fine painted Atlantic 1/32 figures, did you paint all the 1/72 figures of your second picture posting yourself?
That is some incredible work! Especially since I know that you have 100's and 100's (or is it 1000's) of figures for other dioramas, previously shown, in both scales.
If you don't mind, what is the average time you spend on painting, let's say 10 figures, either in 1/32 or 1/72 scale?
Great work. Thanks for posting.

I painted several thousand, maybe 5,000 total 25/8mm metals including those in the last image. Not counting assembly or priming, I think I averaged 6 per hour for simple foot figures. Some I might have as much as an hour into if complicated, lots of shield design, plaid, ect.
Since I assembly line paint it goes fairly fast.54mm, same thing, assembly line. these Ancients in this post took about an hour.Maybe a little longer but they are fairly simple troops to paint.

Something real easy like ww2 Russians, maybe 10 an hour after the initial uniform color is drybrused on.

Going to paint a few more Ancients tonite.I'll post the results.

Nice work Fubar! Do you ever do anything small? Those are really wonderful. I will have to keep my eyes open for some plastic ancients now:mad:

Well, CTS had 36 of their Punic wars guys at $19.99 and I finally caved. Also found a bunch of HAT Industries Punic wars stuf for $1.00 a box at a fund raiser /garage sale for my kids Lacrosse team. I was a parent volunteer and of course I walked around this huge rummage sale and when I saw the fig I was on it like a hen on a Junebugg.Made my day.

No Vamp, I don't do anything small. My collections are never complete.

Did 4 more guys last nite. I take breaks in between , get up and walk around, cant sit too long so I paint in 20 minute intervals.Takes about 1/2 hour to complete 1 fig in 54mm.I did the Celt in one round, took just under 30 minutes from start to finish.

He's rather plain , simple no plaid, painted just the relief that was on his shield.

You are an excellent painter sir.Do you paint professionally or for personal enjoyment?
Mark

Great stuff Fubar im amazed at how fast you can knock them over
You may want to get yourself some italeri Romans

toysoldiers001.jpg

I paint for my own amusement.I have sold off thousands of 15mm figures I painted but usually do not do contract painting for others.
I could spend more time on them and make them more appealing but since I paint several hundred for collections, they look good enmasse and thats good enough for me.
Not really that steady.I have my own methods and once you've painted as much as I have it' goes fairly fast.
Long dry spells where I dont want to touch a paintbrush too.Was in sculpting mode for a couple months. Now it's painting mode.Come Fall, I'll want to be outside around the farm.

Ragnar, I intend to get some Italeri Romans if nothing else for the command and I suppose I could use the Legionnaires as Triari if I give them all spears.

I have molds for all the Alpha Ancients so weapons, shields ect to be had. Maybe I'll sculpt out some Celts?
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

25/8mm metals. On and off it took 3 years to finish. Approx 2,000 figs .
These pix are the last time they were out on the table, maybe 3 years ago.
Imperial Romans Vs British Celts.
No two celts the same.
Did Republican Romansvs Carthaginians, Selducids, Late Romans vs Barbarians
