I have this figure lying around for some time now and am trying to finish it. As I am painting the face, I notice that the right side of it is slightly deformed. Obvious if you see it from the chin looking upwards. So I have decided to resculpt half the face with putty.
I looked around on the web and came across the painting on which this piece was obvious based. It shows that the facial resemblance of the piece is not great and hence, I will be redoing this figure again.
I think that the Peipp figure has great details but the anatomy is not perfect. Since I was redoing the face, I might as well redo other problematic areas.
I also noted that the upper arms were too long and the sword hilt was not in line with the blade scabbard. Hence I sliced off the face, removed the hat and snipped off the arms and, removed the hilt for now. The right arm was bent upwards and the left arm was drilled and reattached. Putty was added to resculpt these areas. The face has been partly resculpted.
Thanks for your nice comments. This piece had been gathering mould on the shelf for a few years before this latest surge of activity. I was surprised at how smoothly everything went after I got the actual reference picture. I noticed also that my growing confidence in sculpting and also in acknowledging mistakes help me to move the project onwards.
I am starting to move on all these long overdue projects and holdovers as I want to start on even more projects.
