The Auto- Saharan Companies were the Italian equivalent of the LRDG and had several encounters with them. One near the Kufra oasis in January 1941 led to an extended exchange with casualties on both sides. The ASCs could provide an interesting opportunity for a future K and C release. They had an interesting collection of vehicles and air support. K and C have already done the brilliant winter Sahariana but could we see a special series for Italian fans including the following vehicles

Trattore Leggero SPA TL.37 “Libia” - a four-wheeled artillery tractor with all-wheel steering and some were armed with a 20mm Breda cannons.

Autocarro Sahariano SPA AS.37 - an artillery tractor capable of 50 km/h.

Camionetta Desertica SPA-Viberti AS.42 specifically designed to operate in the desert. It was built on the same chassis as the AB.40/41 armoured car and could reached a speed of 85 km/h.

Camion FIAT 634 - a the military variant of the civil FIAT 632 and was used by Saharan units to transport troops or supplies.

Camion Lancia 3 RO -very effective and reliable vehicle was another six-wheeled truck like the FIAT 634 and was popular with the DAK. Some had anti-tank guns fitted on a rotating platform

Every "compagnia" was supported by 3 Caproni Ca.309 aircraft which was used for ground attack and reconnaissance.

This could be a great combination of vehicles, supplies, men and planes to challenge the LRDG?

Music to my ears!

The winter Sahariana was bery good, but a desert version with occupants would be most welcome. A superb vehicle.

The WW2 Italian special forces are sparse in toy soldier circles, but there is a fascinating history there...

Also the italian colonial cavalry fought against the LRDG....!{sm3}
