Hi to all...

...I'm curious to know if any of the esteemed collectors here can recommend a currently-in-production range of gloss American War of Independence figures that is worthy of being collected...

I'd rather avoid having to hunt down a manufacturer who has ceased production, as this usually leads to daft prices on the various auction sites that we all know of....

...so, any and all suggestions would be most welcome...

Much obliged ! :)

Hi Randy...

Thanks for the prompt recommendations.....are the Regal AWI range still being manufactured ? I didn't see them on the current website.....they would be ideal as I know of a UK distributor which would make things easier for me....

Ian

Yes, the guys just haven't had time to add pictures to the main site. They currently have only Rogers Rangers and Northeastern Indians on the site. I believe the examples on the Regal Blog can be ordered and i would guess others using some of the same castings. The Farley Brothers are terrific to work with and will customize for you when possible.

Are you referring to Piers Christian? He posts on this site as Modelbaron

You can write to the Ian and Allan and run by them what you want and then have your UK dealer fill the order.

office@regaltoysoldiers.co.nz.

Tell them Randy from New Hampshire sent you.

Alymer also made sets from the Revolutionary War. Alymer is still produced today, by Military Models in Valencia, Spain. There are some sets showing in the catalog now:

British grenadiers:

Col. Paterson's Massachusetts Regiment:

http://www.alymer.com/1547-Batallon-Massachusets-del-Col.-Patterson.html

There were more sets in the catalog, when Alymer was still in its original production, and it might be worth an email to info@alymer.com to ask if any of those sets are available today.

Prost!

Tradition of London make gloss toy style figures in sets:

US Officers

British Forces:

AND all of the figures are also available as individual figures in kit form.

...many thanks, Brad & John, for the additional recommendations...:salute::

Looks like you have plenty to choose from.Good luck and enjoy.

I had forgotten about Tradition. Since I paint my own, I don't think about their finished sets. Their castings are excellent.

If you ever decide to try your hand at painting, Cairnbeg, there's a bit of a broader selection available. Along with Tradition's figures sold as castings, Imrie-Risley has an excellent and extensive selection of Revolutionary War figures, including foot figures, cavalry and artillery. Their website is http://www.imrierisleyminiatures.com/

Valiant kit figures are still available, too. I don't have a website address available, but they sell through eBay. They have some RevWar figures in their catalog, too.

Prost!

Would agree with Obee and The Baron about Tradition figures.I have painted several of their !8th century kits and the well sculptured detail makes this not all that difficult, even for a beginner like me.Imrie-Risley are only available as kits, but they have draught horses and limbers and guns which go well Tradition figures. You might also look at Fusilier miniatures who do glossy 18th century figures( useful for AWI French troops.

That's an excellent suggestion! Fusilier also carries Tommy Atkins, who have British infantry figures from the Jacobite Rebellion, and they work very well for Seven Years War/French-and-Indian War, too. For anyone who wants them painted, the Irish Toy Soldier Museum uses the British infantry castings to paint up as the 18th Regt of Foot circa 1756.

Fusilier also has the old Hussar line in its catalog, which includes Prussian cavalry from the Seven Years War.

Prost!

I also see that Alexanders Toy Soldiers also have a wide range of AWI figures, and I'm sure that if you wanted any particular regiment that Nik would be able to craft that for you from his vast array of figures and parts.
Most of the figures were sculpted by Alan Caton (Trooper) and are a testament to his fine work.
