I had a chance to talk to Ken about the AZW line. He remains very excited about the line and upcoming releases. The pictures below show the two sierra exclusives. He was disappointed with what happened with modelzone but said there will be two new AZW exclusives from a shop in the UK going forward... While I was disappointed he did not bring up a prototype for the new AZW ambulance to the show; he said they are expecting the latest prototype in the coming weeks. He also explained they decided not to cover the whole wagon so you could see inside as well. I saw some actual pics from his ipad and we will not be disappointed....

Thanks for the update. After the changes for the previous gun carriage were needed, this translated in the release schedule being delayed by the best part of a year. Think with the alterations decided now on the ambulance, I doubt we will see it before Christmas so plenty of time to save for it. Robin.

Sorry just to clarify the partially covered ambulance should not cause any delay as it was decided before they announced it. Early iterations likely was completely covered. He was explaining how the version announced came to be.. However the fact he said that it was going to be a complex set gives me some pause about timing......

Occurred to me as much as I like the new ambulance, I would prefer the Zulu holding the reins to be removal. This would allow the wagon to be used at Rorke's Drift prior to setting out into Zululand. Equally I would like to think the rear backboard figure was also removable to allow more options to use the wagon in other settings rather than just being over run. As the canvas appears now to be omitted, the wagon could also be filled full of supplies etc. Still a great piece, would love to think it's on track for an August release, but following closely the release schedule for Britain's in the last few years and as stated a complicated piece, I doubt whether we will see it this side of Christmas, I hope I am wrong. Robin.

Some interesting observations... I plan to use it is my overrun diorama but I guess for $420 people might want some versatility. I have the up most confidence with Ken Osen at the helm for the creative side... on the production side I would be surprised if they release before the Fall as he said himself it was a complicated set....Similar to the escaping gun set, wbritains listened to their collectors and did the right thing..... Not sure they might be too far in production to make many changes at this stage but maybe they do a general wagon in the future as well. Jay

Not to worry, my model maker can remove the figures front and back to allow the wagon to be more versatile, although not keen on destroying how a model is presented, so probably will need to get two. Robin.
