I make replicates 1/6 scale for a client but I use vinyl or latex plastics and focus on the uniform, helmet, boots, etc. I noticed in these postings that almost everyone discusses and showcases cast pewter & painted pewter miniatures, under 8". Is this the main market? I am asking because I want to sell more of what collectors seek. My last creation, (Imperial Army) parade soldier. Next order is Hussar soldier, then Civil War, but they are all vinyl not cast pewter/metals. Should I take up casting? Any suggestions?

Different markets and different scales. I/6 scale is typically cast polyurathane resin as exemplified by Brian Levy at The Collectors Showcase. 1/30 scale pewter figures are an evolution of the traditional 1/32 scale and the figures are used in large multiple figure dioramas. 75 to 120 Millimeter Pewter figures are used in smaller groups and stand alone displays where greater detail is desired. Over the last 15 years plastic figures of 90 to 120 mm have evolved in detail and quality to equal painted Pewter figures IMO. Figures from BBI, PAPO and Schleich are excellent and far less expensive than painted Pewter in the same sizes. I have an Egyptian Chariot of Rameses II in polyurathane that would cost over 30 times more than I paid for it in Pewter and the Pewter figure would be no better in terms of detail or quality. Just more heavy and fragile; but mass produced figures, no matter how well done are disparaged by many collectors who prefer hand cast and painted Objects De Art!

Thank you Katana I've got a lot to learn! Will be looking into all the information you posted in reply. Also will try to post a pic of my Parade Soldier.
