I've only watched the first two episodes so far. Not sure what I make of it. On Netflix.

Babylon Berlin is a German period drama television series following police inspector Gereon Rath, who has been transferred from the city of Cologne to the titular city. The series takes place from 1929 to 1934 in Weimar-era Berlin. Rath investigates a porn ring and uncovers a web of corruption.
Adapted from a 2008 bestselling thriller by Volker Kutscher. Set in the glamorous and decadent world of 1920s Berlin, with communists and Nazis clashing on the city’s streets.

It looks interesting enough on the clip, thanks for the heads up. Robin.

I watched the first episode and it was fairly entertaining. Not exactly clear to me what it is supposed to be about though. A crime show, historical fiction, political? Those elevators were a real hoot. You had to be quick since they apparently never stopped moving. Apparently no tort liability back then.

I am watching this, it's really good. I have just finished episode 7. Love the music. I find I very interesting to have a look at life in Berlin in 1929.

Only seen episode one, but yes I think it has potential. Have to hang out at my son's house, he has Netflix. Robin.

It's worth watching its has quite a good plot, a lot of threads coming together at the end. It's not suitable to watch if you have kids or grand kids knockin about.

I much prefer binge watching a series rather than watching an episode a week, I tend to forget what's going on.

If you get chance to watch it I am sure you will enjoy it even for the historical aspect.

Through the first 5 episodes and think it well done and very interesting. Lots going on, many characters, and it doesn't drag. Berlin in 1929 is a great setting, as well. -- Al

I'm enjoying it and am about halfway through.

If you're looking for some interesting novels about Weimar Germany, I'd recommend Grand Hotel by Vicki Baum. A new edition of Berlin Alexanderplatz by Alfred Döblin is being issued tomorrow and I'm looking forward to purchasing it. Both are available from New York Review of Books Classics.

I watched the final episode of series last night and will start the next as soon as I can. I am really enjoying it. I would have not enjoyed waiting 12 months for the next series but thanks to box sets I don't have to wait.

. I will check out the books Brad mentioned when I get through my back log.

I just finished! I thought it was excellent. One aspect of the ending was hard to see (trying not to spoil it), but I thought the rest was great.

For those who like this show, unfortunate news: it’s leaving Netflix at the end of February and no season 4 even though it’s being shown in Europe.

A friend of mine found a way to view Season 4, so I’ll post it when he lets me know.
