Well its been a while. Just had a great trip to Australia taking in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, 4 day cruise up the Murray River, Alice Springs, Uluru, Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns and of course Great Barrier Reef.

We flew our children over from the UK where they reside so slightly skint now but managed to pick up a few items on route and had a few things waiting for me on my return.

While I have been away highlights for me seem to be JJDs WW1 French stretcher bearer set and War of the Roses sets. FL Saracen tent and Austrian artillery, K&C new building and a welcome return to 1940's France and got to love those RAF cars. I also wait with anticipation for the WB Viking range.

Anyway here are a few shots of some of the new arrivals to the ranks.

Hopefully some dios for next week.

Gary

Wow Gary, vast and varied Pick-up's, certainly makes homecoming all that better. Robin.

Great images as always Gary!

A happier home coming I cannot imagine, looks like you had fun.

Being a "purest" the only ones I have trouble with grasping are the Four Musketeers. I know K&C call it Pike and Musket but, to have Cromwell in the same range as four imaginary french musketeers hits my OCD's head on {sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4} (I managed the palm tree next to the Nery Gun  but you know why that is of course).

Keep them coming and thanks for sharing with us all :salute::

Hi Guys,

Just read Empire MM’s comment about the “Three Musketeers” (and D’Artagnan of course) not being suitable for our “Pike & Musket” series as they are fictional characters and not real historic personages...

From my point-of-view “Pike & Musket” was always going to be a series that could expand and develop from not only “The English Civil War” but also into “The Thirty Years War” and could include contemporary personages such as Cardinal Richlieu (coming soon) and even our Musketeer friends.

At the end of the day you make what you like and are interested in. And for me that is Europe from the early to mid-17th Century spanning the years 1618-1651 and includes both the aforementioned “English Civil War”...”Thirty Years War”...and even the exploits and wars of Cardinal Richlieu (both real and fictional).

That’s all part of the fun of toy soldiers...both making them and collection them.

All the best and happy collecting!

Andy

Hi Andy,

Firstly, and most importantly, my genuine and sincere apologies if any offence was caused. I did not set out to be malicious, truly. As I think you know, I respect you and King & Country, heck, I have quite a few of your pieces on my shelves and will be adding the Dumas figures! (and quite a bit more due to what you have been releasing of late).

All I actually meant was, that due to my personal OCD's, it gives me a wobble. A bit like mixing a WW2 dio scene with Captain America swinging by {sm4} or having flat capped WW1 Tommies fighting Germans with camouflaged stelhelms!. That was all. I am a chap that always puts his left sock on first, stirs his tea clockwise and adds the milk after the tea bag has been taken out ^&grin^&grin^&grin

My "personal" opinion, as that is what it is / was, is that I genuine struggle to see the fit and, to be honest, I am not the only one as people have commented to me the very same. The difference is that I posted it on a fellow collectors page as an opinion on some images he had posted of his latest additions. (My eyes hurt when I saw a palm tree next to the Nery Gun too as I commented {sm2}).

You, just like myself and all other owners, decide what fits, what goes, what you release etc, it is a huge part of the privilege of being a manufacturer / supplier. The Dumas figures are great and yes, I will have them as I have a soft spot for the novel. I won't place them on the same shelf as my other P&M figures but, that is just me, my opinion and nothing more.

This also probably explains why Empire has tight ranges (Marston Moor and 1914 Western Front as opposed to ECW and WW1) I guess, never stopped and thought about it until today.

My failing, I guess, was to post under the Empire name and not as Malcolm the collector but, as I only have one account...... {sm4}

Anyways Andy, I hope you will chink a glass with me at the bar in Chicago and not at me.:salute::

I would like to come out in defense of the palm tree. Having been out to our weekend house for the first time in two months due to the Australian holiday time was at a premium. So my shots in the garden were done quickly and the REAL palm got in the way. I would like to assure Malcolm that both would not be put on a shelf together.

However watch out boys as I have a box of EMM BEF and plan to use them f with K&C, WB, TG and JJDs in some photos over the weekend.

A real mixture for the shelf.

Love both Malcolm and Andy's stuff.
