Barcodes on gravestones (1 Viewer)

Sounds like a good idea but could be expensive in its application, both to apply and to have a reader capable of reading the information.

Ar you sure "kids" are interested in this? ^&confuse

Perhaps in the general sense no. But with the huge surge in school trips from this country to the battlefields just across the channel, most definitely. Children can visit the sites of battles, go to the cemeteries and for instance scan the grave of a VC winner, ordinary foot slogger or someone executed for desertion and learn more about them for their school project. (this is of course if this idea is taken up and widely used)

In this country in recent years there has been a surge of interest in the run up to the centenary and following the success of tv shows such as 'Who do you think you are'. It's dawning on folk that these things took place less than a days drive from most parts of Britain and you can go there and walk in the footsteps of heroes. France and Belgium are gearing up for a flood of visitors these next four years and this will help pass the torch of remembrance on to following generations.

I was reading that one guy in Ypre who owns a hotel has had so many requests for rooms over the next four years that he is building another hotel in the grounds of the first just to keep up!
